IDN Thought Leader Fellowship


  • Emory University faculty of any rank are eligible to participate.

  • Applicants may self-nominate or be nominated by others.


If accepted as an IDN Thought Leader Fellow, you must:

  • Acknowledge Emory Institute for Developing Nations by using a byline that includes your status as an IDN Thought Leader i.e. Dr. <name> is an assistant professor of <subject> and Institute for Developing Nations Thought Leader Fellow at Emory University.

  • Publish a minimum of two pieces of public scholarship in the year following the training and providing hyperlinks to the same.

  • Be available for The OpEd Project mentor-editor program within one month after participating in the workshop to receive professional coaching on your piece.


  • The IDN Thought Leader Fellowship Application

  • The Application deadline for the Saturday, March 23, 2019 workshop is Friday, February 22, 2019

  • The Application deadline for the Saturday, June 8, 2019 workshop is Friday May 3, 2019


  • IDN grants may be combined with other Emory funding

  • Recipients may receive funding from IDN only one time per year
