Partnerships

It is time to build new kinds of long-term institutional connections that will create synergy between academic research and action-oriented programs on poverty and poverty alleviation. By making a commitment to build research communities based on mutually beneficial collaborations, we have the opportunity to reconceptualize development theory and practice, and most importantly, to make a meaningful difference for those who live in poverty.

IDN supports Emory faculty partnering with NGO staff and locally based, African researchers working on areas of common interest. Projects are encouraged to involve graduate students. Outcomes will be published in top-tier journals and presented at academic and policy-oriented conferences, thereby making a substantial contribution to development theory, informing better policy, and identifying key areas for capacity building in developing nations.
